Hawjan

Set in the coastal city of Jeddah, this groundbreaking urban fantasy seamlessly merges Islamic folklore, modern physics, and young adult suspense. The narrative is told from the perspective of Hawjan, a ninety-year-old Jinni (the equivalent of a young adult in Jinni lifespan) living peacefully with his family in an invisible dimension that overlaps with a residential villa. His existence is upended when a human family moves in, bringing along Sawsan, a bright and compassionate medical student. As Hawjan begins secretly interacting with Sawsan to protect her from dark supernatural threats and family betrayals, a delicate bond forms between them, defying the ancient taboos separating their worlds. Abbas constructs a fast-paced, imaginative world that reimagines classical legends through scientific logic, offering a gripping tale of self-sacrifice, cross-realm harmony, and the universal power of love.

It is a groundbreaking regional bestseller and cultural phenomenon that popularized contemporary Arabic YA fantasy, offering an inventive, thrill-packed fusion of cultural folklore and modern science.
